LAST  WILL  AND  TESTAMENT  OF  JENNIE  ( JINEY )  JOYCE-----1798
            

     In the name of God amen, I , Jincey Joyce  of the County of Rockingham and state of North Carolina, being very sick and weak of body, but in perfect mind and memory, thanks to God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men and women once to die do make and ordain this my last testament that who says-------fully and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of almighty God that gave it, my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian at the direction of my executor, knowing that at the General Resurrection I shall rise-----the same again by the
mighty power of God, as touching such worldly estate whereon it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner  and  form.

    First, I give and bequeath to  my loving sister  Polly Joyce  one Negro girl, Patt, which I purchased at the sale of my father James Joyce deceased, to her and  her heirs forever.

   Item, I give and bequeath unto my  loving brother, James Joyce one certain Negro  Charles that I purchased at the sale of my said father James Joyce deceased.

   Item, I give and bequeath to my loving sister Polly Joyce one bed and furniture to her and her heirsforever.

   Item, I give to my loving sister Sarah Roberts one woman's saddle, one flax wheel, one cotton wheel to her and her heirs forever.

   Item, I give and bequeath to my loving brother Alexander  Joyce one Dutch oven

   Item, I give and bequeath to my loving brother John Joyce  one jugg,  one  bottle, one bowl.

   Item, as touching all other estate that I ampossessed with in every case except what is above willed and bequeathed away  I give  unto my loving brother Alexander Joyce on his paying all just debts that may be due against me. And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and dis (?)  all  and every other former testaments, wills, legacies, bequeaths and
executors by me in anywise before named willed and bequeathed,  ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.  I also do nominate and appoint  Joshua Smith  and Robert Joyce  executors  of this my last will and testament. In witness  whereof  I have hereunto  set my hand and seal  this nineteenth day of March, one thousand seven
hundred  and ninety-eight.
